If you are a table tennis player, you might have complained about the weight of table tennis blades – the weight of your own blade or the blade you are trying.
Here are some tips to reduce the weight of the blade:
1. The table tennis blades are manufactured with wood. The weight of the blade can vary from one to another. It has surprised me when I’ve looked at a Butterfly Joo Se Hyuk which weighs 110 gm compared to a one which I have bought last year which weights only 85 gm. After you buy a new blade, weigh the blade and return it if that does not meet the manufacture’s description.
2. The sealing of blade can increase the weight of the blade by at least 5 to 7 gm.
3. The glue deposit on the blade can increase the weight of the blade. Removing the glue will reduce the weight of the blade.
4. The table tennis blades after many years of use can increase the weight.
5. The rubbers that you put on the table tennis blade can increase the weight compared to other rubbers which you have used before.
6. The table tennis blades having wider surface accommodate more rubbers. To reduce the weight of such wider blades, align the rubber little more higher than the handle and cut the unused portion of the rubber.
