I’m testing a Darker blade for the first time. I have selected this blade because of my love for Hinoki wood. Any XIOM Kiso Hinoki blade that I have used before I had a very good liking to its control and top spin abilities. I expected the same from Darker 7P-2A DF. I was disappointed a little for my liking.
The Darker 7P-2A DF is not really a defensive blade for players who chop and attack. This 7 layer Hinoki bumps up the ball very high for any chop stroke. I would say this is an all round blade for players who like to block on the backhand and attack on the forehand. The blade is wider so it has good sweet spot.
I have played Darker 7P-2A DF with XIOM Omega III Max on the forehand and TSP Curl P1R on the backhand. This was an extremely fast combination for me. I had absolutely no control with this combination. I was forced to block the balls on my backhand rather than chopping because of the high throw comes out of the chop strokes – the forehand was pretty okay.
I would recommend this to someone who has block strokes on the backhand with long pips and top spin attack on the forehand.
