I have tried the TSP BJorn with an impression that it can provide the benefits of TSP Real rubber but with soft sponge and more speed. I would say I was disappointed. Among the TSP offensive rubbers like REAL, ACTOR and BJORN, the BJORN does not have enough power as others.
The power can be only gained by using the BJORN on a very offensive blade. I have tried TSP BJorn on TSP Yanagi Alpha blade. The TSP Yanagi Alpah is a 3 play DEF+ blade.
Among the three rubbers REAL, ACTOR and BJORN, the TSP BJORN has very good speed. The sponge is close to the hardness of TSP REAL. I have felt am I playing a TSP REAL with less spin and more speed. The dwell time is less compared to other rubbers, so it is important to react fast at the point of contact. To generate good top spin, quick hitting at the top of the ball is necessary. It has high throw angle also - close to TSP REAL.
I have tried this on my Dr.Neubauer Combination Effect balsa blade. The Dr.Neubauer Combination Effect is a soft stiff blade with good power. This combination has given me a lot of pleasure. I was able to see tremendous speed as well as spin that TSP Real could provide - TSP BJorn is faster than TSP Real.
I have tried this on TSP Hino-Carbon Power, the hinoki blade from TSP. This combination gave me more pleasure than the previous combination. On both the combinations, I was able to generate good spin at serves - not like TSP Real which can generate spin from its topsheet.
There is no need to speed glue TSP BJorn. The TSP BJorn needs to be put on blades that have power like TSP Hino-Carbon Power.
The TSP BJorn is available from TableTennisStore.us for $37.95
