It’s small. But it serves the purpose. I’m writing this blog on my Google phone. Surely, this is a great way to write down my thoughts wherever I’m at - hotel, club or at the airport.
I was in crunch mode on Friday before leaving for Dallas. I was able to find on the Internet only one table tennis club in Dallas which is open on Sundays. The Dallas Table Tennis club is a 24 hours open club in the Dallas area. It’s hard to locate the club for a new comer to this area. It has really surprised me when the club owner Kim drove himself to the location where I’ve lost the direction. Kim was helpful in that way. The club is located on I-35E and Royal Lane exit.
What a joy to find players wearing XIOM shirts at the Dallas Table Tennis! After talking to a player, I’ve found out that Dallas Table Tennis club is attended by mostly Koreans. Without much wait, the players there joined me to play. That was very friendly.
The Dallas Table Tennis club has 5 tables. I’m not sure they have an extension area with more tables. The building is pretty new with good club atmosphere. I could see some nice pictures of Korean players on the wall. The floor is made of wood. It was little slippery. All the tables have a piece of towel next to it. I had found it easy to have some grip on the floor after soaking my shoe in the towel.
I’ve played against four players in Dallas Table Tennis. Kim, the club owner wanted the players in the club to play against me. I won against 3 out of the 4 players I’ve played against. I’ve had troubles against a lefty. Unlike Utah where I’m from, the top spin loops sunk more deeper to the floor from the table than bouncing. In the third game, I thought to regain control and win the match. It was too late by that time.
When I was leaving the club I had a chance to meet a woman defensive player. She was excited to meet me and look at my equipments. She was heading to have dinner, so we could not play. She wanted me to come back on Monday morning to have some practice. I’ve heard that the club has a tournament for the Koreans on Monday.
I will write about practice with the chopper tomorrow.
