It was a shock to me when I’ve heard Chicago was eliminated from hosting the 2016 Olympics. Isn’t that sad to the sports lovers in America? I’m an ardent fan of table tennis, and many such fans are sad at this. This was an opportunity for the 5 million ping pong players in America to see there is more to the paddle game.

2016 Olympic Announcement

There are few reasons behind America’s elimination from hosting the 2016 Olympic in Chicago. The politics is the main reason. The Olympic Committee not as a whole but they are many who hates the involvement of politics into the game. Why the President of America should have to travel himself to Copenhagen, Denmark to give a testimony? It might have been a last attempt to save the image of Chicago. But his involvement pictured the figure of politics entering the game.

The recent scandals in Chicago after President Obama left, to give the job of Governor for money has attracted anti-America voters a good reason to vote against America. The Olympic Association itself was involved in corruption years ago, and they are in a path to redemption. They fear opportunity for Chicago to host Olympics 2016 is an opportunity for more corruption.

The campaigners behind Chicago 2016 have failed to convince the voters they have enough money to host such an international event. This was a big concern in a situation where the Chicago state’s deficit increasing.

Congratulations to Rio De Janeiro. Brazil still in south of America, not to far away. I wish my luck take me there.

I believe that the government’s commitment but also a determining factor. But what happened to the city of Chicago to be eliminated was the fact had high level of rejection of the local population. The two cities, Rio and Madrid had popular support.

I disagree with that, politics was not the main reason of Chicago’s lost, because Brazilian’s President was also there in that meeting, however, I believe the Olympics Association made this choice based on the fact that there was never a South America Olympic Games before, and Rio had a good Olympic project in hands, not the best of then, but a good one…
