One of the best quality rubbers I have ever tied. This is extremely deceptive as TTMaster Punto. Talk about control and slower speed for long pips, this is it.
The Armstrong Twister long pips come in two versions. The Armstrong Twister is a close to table long pips rubber. This is the vanila version. The Armstrong Twister Ext is faster than the vanila version. Both the versions come in sponge size ranging from 1.0 to 3.0. They come in OX which is no sponge.
I have tried both the Armstrong Twister versions on Butterfly Innershied DF, Stiga Tube Defense, Butterfly Defense Pro & TSP Yanagi. I have liked it’s performance with Butterfly Innershielf DF. I liked its performance close to the table. The ball come out this pips have low throw and heavy reversal. The throw is little higher than Dr.Neubauer Fighter.
Like TTMaster Punto, it shines very well in it’s deception. Unlike Punto this is excellent for looping underspin. Very unique is it’s top spin generation against the underspin and very unpredictable for any skilled opponents to attack. It’s not easy to attack that fast.
Like Punto the Armstrong Twister pips bend well. While I was testing the hardness of it’s pips, it really surprised me how the longs bend and takes it’s shape back immediately. The TTMaster Punto against heavy top spin servers suffer a little to absorb the speed and spin. The Armstrong is smart. There is some unique behavior to the pips make this happen - a simple touch to ball takes all the speed and spin from the table. Recently I play against pen holders who use Kiso Hinoki blades. These players generate high speed and spin on the ball very unpredictably. I have tried to cut such heavy spinny balls like I used to with Punto or TSP Curl p1r. Later I realized just a simple touch at the right angle is necessary to eat all the spin and speed.
The Armstrong rubbers are made in Japan. They have excellent quality. The price is $45 and is available from TableTennisStore.US.
