Ask me about a good all round blade for a starting player. There are few blades that I recommend like TSP BalsaFiber 3.5, XIOM Aria and now Stiga Allround Classic in that list.

This is the first time I’m trying a Stiga Allround Classic. I don’t think I had the right combination of rubbers on this blade while testing. I had Butterfly Spinart on the forehand and Tibhar Grass DTech on the backhand side.

Speed

The Speed of this blade is slow. When I said slow, it is not slow like a defensive blade. When you make a stroke with this blade, you can see the ball traveling with good speed. The Butterfly Spinart is a very hard blade. It was not right for this blade. The right rubber for this blade would be XIOM Omega III or XIOM Omega II.

The Stiga Allround Classic is not a blade to pay away from the table. This blade has power to play mid range table shots, but it lacked a precision. Off the table, the blade produces excellent classic shots. The blade produces high arc balls, but it is apt to play close to the table.

Feeling

The Stiga Allround Classic blade is a stiff blade and has hard feeling. The version I tried had a hollow handle. I don’t get good feeling on a hard blade. When I was testing the blade on a ball in the speed range 5m/h to 25m/h I had better feeling with it’s slight vibration. I did not have that when I started testing on high speed balls. The blade has some vibration. This vibration might have been eliminated by the WRB handle.

Power

The Stiga Allround Classic blade kills the energy of the ball at the contact, so the repulsion is very low. This is now this blade adds control to the player. I tried adding more power to the blade through the stroke. There is very good acceleration I could get out of my own strokes.

Who this blade is for?

The Stiga Allround Classic blade is not for just beginners. This is the right blade for any table tennis or ping pong players who have made a goal to improve their game. Don’t be crazy about faster blades or carbon blades and waste the money on those until you take this blade and improve your strokes.

I am planning to buy a new all round blade to improve my game ,what do you recommend out of these ?
1. Stiga all round classic
2. Donic waldner Allplay / Applegreen Allplay
3. Joola Rosskopf all round play

Since Butterfly Gtubba pro and Butterfly primorac blade are not available in india ,these are the best i could find in India.

Hi Ankush:

We like the Donic Waldner Allplay or the Applegin Allplay. These are all good choices.
